A Reddit user named u/robertgfthomas recently shared a screenshot of his updated itinerary from Lufthansa, which showed that he was supposed to depart from Frankfurt at 9:25 a.m. on March 2, 2013, and arrive in Toronto at 10:55 a.m. on March 1, 2013. That’s right, he was going to arrive a day before he left, effectively traveling back in time by 23 hours and 30 minutes, which is quite a mind-boggling experience.

The user joked that he was going to buy a lottery ticket and bet on some sports games with his newfound ability. He also wondered if he would have to pay extra for the time travel service, or if he would get a refund for the lost day, and asked for some advice on what to do in Toronto in 2013, since he had already visited the city in 2019.

The post quickly went viral, attracting over 20,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments from amused and curious Redditors. Some of them offered suggestions on what to do in Toronto, such as visiting the CN Tower, watching a Maple Leafs game, or checking out the new Ripley’s Aquarium. Others pointed out the potential paradoxes and dangers of time travel, such as meeting his past self, altering the course of history, or creating a wormhole, while a few even shared their own experiences of time travel glitches with airlines, such as arriving before they departed, or skipping a day entirely.

A glitch in the matrix

So, how did this happen? Was it a glitch in the matrix, a prank by Lufthansa, or a secret experiment by the German government? Well, according to Lufthansa, it was none of the above. It was simply a mistake in the system, caused by the daylight saving time change that occurred on March 10, 2013. The airline explained that the system did not account for the time difference between Frankfurt and Toronto, which was one hour less than usual, resulting in the incorrect display of the arrival time.

Lufthansa apologized for the confusion and inconvenience, and assured the user that his flight was going to depart and arrive at the correct times, according to the local time zones. The airline also offered him a complimentary upgrade to business class, as a gesture of goodwill. The user was happy with the resolution, and thanked Lufthansa for their professionalism and generosity, expressing his excitement for the trip, even if it was not going to be a time travel adventure.

Therefore, here it is. The enigma surrounding the itinerary for time travel has been unraveled. Nevertheless, do not allow this revelation to dampen your aspirations of embarking on a journey through time. Who can predict, perhaps someday, you will discover the means to make it a reality. In the meantime, cherish the present moment and devise plans for the days ahead, all while flying with Lufthansa.
