In the thrilling world of college basketball, the NCAA Women’s Final Four has taken the spotlight with ticket prices on the resale market reaching unprecedented heights. According to Logitix, a technology company that analyzes ticket prices across multiple platforms, the average price for a ticket to the women’s semifinals this week was a staggering $2,323, which is more than double the average sale price for the men’s semifinals at $1,001.21.
The electrifying matchups for the women’s games feature Iowa against Connecticut and South Carolina versus North Carolina State at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, which boasts a seating capacity of 19,432. The demand for these games is reflected in the average price, which stands at $1,131.78 when including sales from a month ago and beyond. This figure starkly contrasts with the $400.29 average price for the same period in 2023.
On the men’s side, the semifinals will see Purdue face off against North Carolina State and Connecticut take on Alabama at the much larger State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, which can accommodate 63,400 fans. The overall average ticket price for the men’s semifinals is $993.70, compared to $636.43 in the previous year.
The women’s championship game on Sunday is also drawing significant attention, with tickets selling for an average of $1,110.63 this week. In comparison, the average ticket price for the men’s title game on Monday is $646.45.
A Logitix spokesman attributed the higher prices for the women’s games to a combination of factors. One is the smaller supply of tickets due to the venue’s seating capacity being less than a third of the men’s venue. However, the primary driver is the unprecedented demand for women’s tickets, spurred by the fanfare surrounding Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, the all-time leading scorer in Division I. The Hawkeyes have enjoyed sellout crowds at nearly every game this season, both at home and away.
The NCAA offers ticket packages that include all three games of the Final Four, which have now sold out. These packages had face values ranging from $200 to $400 for the women’s semifinals and final, and $250 to $900 for the men’s games.
For those looking to attend only specific games, the resale market provides the option to purchase tickets separately for the semifinals and final, thanks to the events being held on different days and requiring unique digital entry QR codes.
Excitement is mounting for the NCAA Women’s Final Four, with ticket prices soaring as a testament to the increasing popularity and recognition of women’s sports. Fans are eagerly awaiting the showdowns on the court, and the high demand for tickets is a clear indicator of the significant progress women’s basketball has made in winning the hearts of sports enthusiasts.
