Alex Anthopoulos: contract extension with Atlanta Braves through 2031 season

In an exciting development for Atlanta Braves fans, the club has announced a multi-year contract extension with President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Alex Anthopoulos. This extension ensures that Anthopoulos, the architect of the Braves’ recent success, will remain with the club through the 2031 season.

Anthopoulos joined the Braves in November 2017 as executive vice president and general manager. He was promoted to president of baseball operations in February 2020. Under his leadership, the Braves have compiled a 515-354 record, won six consecutive NL East division titles, and captured the 2021 World Series championship. His strategic decisions and player acquisitions have played a pivotal role in shaping the Braves into a perennial World Series contender.

Anthopoulos’ journey in baseball operations began as an intern in 2000 for the now-defunct Montreal Expos. He later joined the Toronto Blue Jays’ scouting department in 2003, where he made several high-profile acquisitions that delighted the fanbase. After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Anthopoulos joined the Braves in late 2017. Since then, he has been instrumental in bringing several big names to Atlanta, contributing to the team’s success.
