We encountered black tip and white tip sharks, graceful mooray eels, an elusive turtle, an octopus in its natural guise, and the vibrant titan triggerfish among a plethora of other marine inhabitants. The reef’s design to protect its brilliant colors while allowing swimmers to explore is commendable. However, the need to rent snorkel equipment felt like an overlooked detail that could have enhanced the guest experience.
Our adventures also took us beyond the house reef. The “Villa Snorkelling Adventure” was a mesmerizing encounter with the giants of the deep. Swimming alongside two whale sharks, manta rays, and turtles felt surreal, especially with the attentive and friendly staff who ensured a seamless experience. Night snorkeling introduced us to the nocturnal activities of the reef, revealing hunting mooray eels and lionfish under the cloak of darkness, an experience I highly recommend to any underwater enthusiast.

The staff at Ahima restaurant were welcoming and accommodating, making our dining experience enjoyable. Despite the simple culinary options, the stunning views from the restaurant enhanced the overall atmosphere. We eagerly anticipated each meal, not just for the food but also for the serene environment. The convenience of having meals included in our package allowed us to fully enjoy the activities and sights of the island. While our dining experience at Ahima restaurant may not have been the highlight of our trip, it certainly added to our overall satisfaction with our stay.
Vilamendhoo’s all-inclusive offerings included an array of activities and amenities, from themed dining and sunset cruises to snorkeling and windsurfing lessons. Despite a rocky start with a room downgrade and seaplane delays, the resort’s compensations and the diverse experiences available made up for the initial inconvenience.

The alarming state of the corals, a stark reminder of climate change’s impact, only strengthened my resolve to advocate for environmental conservation.
